law of attention

We look like

whatever we focus our attention on…

It is your treasure…

or where your heart will be.

To see…

is to become like…

and what you will to find yourself desiring.

It is not that,

whatever you desire,

you will focus your attention on…

no, no…

it is the opposite!

Your desire will always

follow your attention…

Boo earns!

I learned a new expression that is making it’s way through Canada…

“BOO EARNS”

This means:  “THAT SUCKS!”

So cool to learn some new lingo!

Fun in Canada

This past weekend I was in Canada, with my oldest boy,
at a hockey tournament in London, Ontario.
Five games…and they went undefeated!
Yes!  USA won!!!  ;)

Excellent games to watch…
and, being on the winning end was fun…
but nothing beats coming back to the US, afterwards.

We weren’t welcome there really.

It felt, at times, like they just wished we would
throw our money at them and leave ASAP.

But, nonetheless, nothing could stop us from having fun too.
We were there to enjoy our time, as much as possible.
Times like this are few, and life is short.

A few weeks ago,
I was sitting in an airport in Detroit.
Due to bad weather, and not enough time between flights,
I discovered that my next plane wouldn’t arrive for another 3 and a half hours.
So, I found a bite to eat in a restaraunt close by.

I sat by myself, of course…
ate my salad,
washed it down with an ale.  ;)

While I was sitting there, people would come and go.
But, I happened to hear some of the conversation of one man.
He said that his flight to London was delayed for three hours.
So, I thought, “what the hell?…I am staying for that long too…
I wonder if he would feel better sitting in the WorldClub instead of out here for those three hours?”

I knew that this year, I was going to be doing a lot of traveling…so, on January 1st,
I purchased a membership to Northwest Airline’s WorldClub for $300…
and I was about to take advantage of it myself, after my meal!

So, I asked him if he wanted to go in there with me…
and he said SURE!!!
Anyway, we chatted non-stop,
and drank beer for over two and half hours.
He gave me his business card…
and I told him that I would look him up when I got to London,
for my son’s hockey tournament.
Maybe we could meet for coffee?

Well, the first day in London was busy:
two hockey games that Friday,
after arriving in town that morning (and a four hour drive).

So, the next morning, I emailed him…
and surprisingly, he showed up to watch my son’s game.
Then he said that he was having a Saint Patrick’s Day party at his house…
and invited my son and I over for it.
I said SURE!

After my son’s second game that day,
the team got together at the hotel and swam in the pool, ate a meal together, and watched Michigan State play men’s basketball in the NCAA Tournament on TV.
It was getting late…I thought “too late.”

So, I called the guy to let him know I appreciated the invitation,
but weren’t going to make it…because my son wanted to swim some more, etc.
And the man told me that they were going to still be up until midnight.

Okay…so around 11PM, my son and I drive to his house.
We get there around 11:30PM.
When we arrive, some people are still there…
The man and his wife, their daughter (who we found out is a professional actress),
and another couple from “down the street” were playing dominoes.
So, they invited us to play.

I had a Harp’s Lager…
which they added green dye to…
and then had a Guinness.

My son was very talkative and felt very comfortable with them:
everything went very well.
My son told them lots of things on his mind (oh boy!  :) )
including, how impressed he was with the way his father (me!)
can meet people and become friends quickly.

We really enjoyed being there…
They were very nice people…
and we fitted in with them.
They even stood at the door
and waved as we drove away…
oh, at 2AM!!!!  :)

Been on road trips quite a bit

Spent most of last week on the road…

and then two nights in near Minneapolis.

Just yesterday, I slept for 12 hours!!!

I never realized just how tired I was!

I hope to write more in my blog very soon.

entering the moment fully

“Holiness of being comes by entering the moment fully, with our wholehearted attention.  All the outer forms of religion - the temples, the teachers, the practices - simply call us to the eternal present, invite us to bend down the heart to touch each moment.”
